What’s your story?

I’m so excited to announce the launch of the What’s Your Story? campaign for creatives!!

Yesterday I published “Why your story still matters”. I believe strongly that we should be sharing who we are and connecting with the world as creative business owners.

THE IDEA.

Everyone has a story. A reason you are at this point in your life, creating what you create. Whether you are an artist, designer, maker, seamstress, photographer or sell vintage items, as creatives you have a passion for what you do and you need to share it. I believe people become connected through hearing each others stories. Stories are powerful, they can draw us in and make us do things we never thought possible. Marketing is no longer about icky practices, it’s about connecting with your target customer and your colleagues.

As the wonderful Allisa Jacobs commented on our Facebook page:

The best marketing, I think is connecting…

She’s right. The reality is people like to do business with people. With the proliferation of online selling, consumers want to trust who they are buying from. We can develop trust by showing who we are, being proud of ourselves, putting a face or a name to our work. We can engage through social media, develop a relationship and provide real, honest insights to the people behind handmade goods.

HOW CAN YOU TAKE PART?

For the rest of the month I will be sharing articles on how you can craft your story. It can be as simple as writing a few paragraphs that explain what you do or you can infuse your story throughout everything you do including your packaging, newsletters, branding, about page and customer service.

Once you have your story covered, it’s time to share it with the world which you can do in a number of ways:

1. Submit your story in our Flickr group: www.flickr.com/groups/storycreatives . You can upload a photo of yourself or a video. Have fun with it! but be sure to link to your shop or blog in your profile so we can check out your work.

2. Blog your story then send us a link to: hello at noisettemarketing.com . If you have a blog you can upload your photo or video there and let us know that you have done it by emailing us the link. This ensures we don’t miss it!

You can do both if you wish!

We will be choosing great stories to share here on The Academy in a regular feature which I hope will be another way of getting your stories out to the masses!

So there you are! I’d love to hear what you think? Will you be getting involved?
